Dr. Alexander Smith’s story begins right here in Bend, Oregon. A third-generation Oregonian, he grew up deeply connected to his community, shaped by values of discipline, service, and perseverance. He attended all three Bend high schools and earned the rank of Eagle Scout—early reflections of the work ethic and leadership that would later define his career.
Dr. Smith went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology from the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) before completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery at The Ohio State University. Rather than take a conventional path, he chose to serve—spending four years as a Captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and abroad in South Korea. His time in the military instilled a deep sense of precision, accountability, and commitment to excellence that continues to guide his clinical philosophy today.
After nearly a decade of experience across multiple clinical settings, Dr. Smith returned to Bend with a bold vision—to redefine what dentistry could be. His mission was clear: to bring world-class, high-end dentistry to his hometown while making it more accessible to the community he grew up in.

A devoted Buckeye and loyal Cleveland Browns fan, his Ohio roots are not merely sentimental — they define the way he practices: grounded, direct, and deeply committed to doing what is right.

Dr. Sean Bannan’s passion for dentistry began early in life, growing up in Michigan in a family devoted to the profession. His father, also a dentist, served as both mentor and role model, giving Dr. Bannan the opportunity to witness firsthand the lasting impact of compassionate, high-quality dental care. Before dental school, he worked as a dental assistant alongside his father and several respected mentor dentists in Denver, Colorado—formative experiences that shaped his appreciation for precision, craftsmanship, and meaningful patient relationships.
Dr. Bannan earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology from Michigan State University before receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He went on to achieve Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD)—a distinction earned by fewer than 6% of dentists nationwide—reflecting his commitment to clinical excellence and extensive continuing education.
Throughout his career, Dr. Bannan has remained deeply committed to advanced learning and comprehensive care. He completed extensive post-graduate training at the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne and now serves on its Board of Advisors and Nominating Committee. His professional focus includes comprehensive restorative dentistry, complex case management, and the treatment of jaw and TMJ-related conditions, always emphasizing precision, long-term predictability, and patient-centered solutions.
For 12 years, Dr. Bannan owned and operated an adult-focused restorative dental practice in Florida, where he developed particular expertise in helping patients with complex dental conditions regain comfort, function, and confidence. His practice philosophy centered on conservative, thoughtful treatment planning designed to deliver lasting results while respecting each patient’s health and investment.
Recently, Dr. Bannan and his family relocated from Florida to Oregon—trading hurricane seasons for mountain peaks and ski slopes. Drawn by Oregon’s natural beauty, distinct seasons, and outdoor lifestyle, the move reflects both a professional and personal commitment to living with intention and balance.
Dr. Bannan offers comprehensive care for patients of all ages and is known for his calm, thorough approach and dedication to building lasting relationships. He believes dentistry is most powerful when patients understand what’s possible and are guided with clarity, precision, and compassion toward achieving their goals.

Outside the office, Dr. Bannan enjoys golfing, skiing, playing guitar, cheering on the Michigan State Spartans, and spending time with his wife, Kate, and their two sons, Logan and Miles. Their family also includes three beloved dogs—Bowzer, Peach, and Chewy—who happily join them on Oregon’s many outdoor adventures.
